The World Institute for Nuclear Security receives 2015 CSO50 Award

The World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) has been named an honouree of a 2015 CSO50 Award from IDG’s CSO. This prestigious honour is bestowed upon a select group of organisations that have demonstrated that their security projects/initiatives have created outstanding business value and thought leadership for their companies. WINS will accept its award at the CSO50 Security Confab + Awards conference to be held on February 23-25, 2015 at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation, Amelia Island, Florida.

“For the third year in a row, outstanding organizations demonstrating innovation, creativity and understanding of business value in security were chosen from a large pool of submissions.” said Joan Goodchild, editor, CSO. “We congratulate this year’s CSO50 winners and applaud them for setting the bar high for security’s role in providing value and ROI in business.”

As a 2015 award winner, WINS joins a select group of companies and organisations. (Winners in 2014 included Deloitte, Intel and the Department of Homeland Security.)

CSO named WINS a 2015 honouree in recognition of the groundbreaking work it is carrying out through the WINS Academy Nuclear Security Certification Programme. The purpose of the Programme is to provide training and certification opportunities for professionals with responsibility for nuclear security. WINS’ Executive Director, Roger Howsley, explains:

“For the first time, tens of thousands of professionals with accountabilities for nuclear security now have the opportunity to prove they have the crucial knowledge necessary to manage nuclear security programmes. I am delighted that CSO has recognised the business value of our programme, and I am grateful to our partner, Pearson VUE, for helping to make it a success.”

About WINS
WINS was launched in September 2008 as a first-of-its-kind institute specifically designed to share best practices and strengthen nuclear security. WINS helps those with responsibility for nuclear and other radioactive materials improve the overall implementation of security practices and strongly advocates that all personnel with accountability for nuclear security be demonstrably competent. Through its International Best Practice Guides, International Workshops, and the WINS Academy Nuclear Security Certification Programmes, the organisation promotes nuclear security best practices to over 2,300 individual and corporate members from 110 countries, 90% of whom have changed their approach to nuclear security because of their involvement with WINS.
