WINS completes a peer review of the first Academy module

In response to the lack of professional development and certification in nuclear security management, WINS has created the WINS Academy. This initiative, to be fully launched this year, will be the first online certified professional programme that serves this purpose and will initially address the needs of eight different audiences (see here for further details on the programme).

The Elective for Scientists, Technicians and Engineers (STEs) is the first module of this programme to be completed and we have undertaken an international peer review to ensure the material quality is in line with our commitment to ISO 9001 standards. The objective of the peer-review was to evaluate the content of the materials and to accumulate constructive feedback to help with iterative improvements, just like our Best Practice Guides.

We selected 15 subject matter experts and STE practitioners from a number of different countries and types of organizations to review the STE Module. Analysis of the data collected throughout the process shows that the general impression tends to be positive towards the quality of the materials, reflected In an average reviewer score of 4.3 out of 5 (Very good to Excellent). In addition, 7 peer reviewers decided to endorse the module and provided an endorsement quote.

Results of this peer review have been compiled in a summary report, available here to download.

WINS extends a special thanks to the U.S. State Department’s Partnership for Nuclear Security (PNS) for their support in the development of this module.
