Purposes

  • Hear from experts about the importance of dialogue between these key actors in radioactive source security to strengthen the protection and security of sources;
  • Engage with other participants and subject matter experts on the topic in an interactive manner; and
  • Understand how detection and response can support prevention measures in relation to radioactive source security.

Objectives

This workshop will

  • Bring together experts from competent authorities responsible for regulation development, as well as for detection and response to MORC, and end users of radioactive materials.
  • Enable a discussion of the lessons that may be learned from real MORC cases, including those involving investigations and prosecutions, that will strengthen control of radioactive material, from both the regulator and operator perspective.
  • Strengthen the dialogue between these important stakeholders who contribute to the prevention, detection and response to radioactive sources out of regulatory control.
