WINS involvement at the 2016 Nuclear Industry Summit

Dr Roger Howsley, WINS Executive Director, has been invited to speak at the 2016 Nuclear Industry Summit (NIS), which will take place in Washington, D.C. at the Grand Hyatt Washington on 30/31 March. WINS has addressed every NIS event and Dr Howsley chaired the Advisory Committee in 2014. The 2016 NIS will be followed by the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit (NSS 2016) which will gather world leaders from more than 50 countries and 4 international organisations focused on preventing nuclear terrorism throughout the globe.

The NIS is a high level event that will bring together CEOs and industry leaders from around the world to finalise actions from previous NISs and address three key areas:

  • Securing the Use, Storage and Transport of Strategic Nuclear and Radiological Materials
  • Managing the Cyber Threat
  • The Role of the Nuclear Industry Globally and Governance arrangements

Organisation of the 2016 NIS is the responsibility of the Nuclear Energy Institute and is expected to feature the WINS Academy and its achievements since its launch 2 years ago, over which time 600 professionals in over 70 countries have enrolled on the programme.
