Special Publication on Corporate Governance Arrangements for Nuclear Security now online!

WINS is pleased to announce the publication of its latest Special Paper on “Corporate Governance Arrangements for Nuclear Security: Analysis of Annual Reports from Companies and Regulators“.

Although nuclear security is a State responsibility, the economic and security consequences of a serious nuclear security incident would reverberate around the globe and shake public confidence in both the nuclear industry and governments. Consequently, all States and the global public have equity in knowing how well the global nuclear security system is functioning. This is why it is so important that facility operators provide confidence-building assurance mechanisms to both government and external stakeholders, including the public.

The purpose of this report is to identify the current status of corporate governance arrangements for nuclear security by reviewing the information and assurances offered by the industry and its security regulators. In doing so, WINS aims to establish the current state of corporate governance reporting, identify best practices and related statements, and make recommendations for the future. Because this report is the first to present a consolidated list of Annual Reports and Corporate Social Responsibility reports from nuclear organisations, it also provides a useful reference.
