Workshop on autonomous and remotely operated systems: Benefits and challenges to nuclear security

Background

The systematic approach to training can ensure your nuclear security training programme is developing the workforce you need.

The ADDIE model helps you develop a sustainable training programme that targets the exact competencies staff need to perform their job duties.

“The SAT process not only improves personnel performance, but also often identifies needed improvements in nuclear facility processes, procedures, equipment and organization,” the IAEA notes in Systematic Approach to Training for Nuclear Facility Personnel: Processes, Methodology  and Practices.

This webinar on the systematic approach to training and the ADDIE model explored how these tools can support strategic human resources development in your organisation. The fifth and final instalment in our ongoing series on competency frameworks and the systematic approach to training for the ASEAN region built on the previous editions, focusing specifically on training development.

Purposes

Participants were introduced to the steps involved in the development of training and training needs analysis:

  • Describing the concept of the systematic approach to training
  • Explaining the five parts of the ADDIE model
  • Identifying assessment methodologies
  • Applying SAT to a relevant nuclear case study
  • Determining the competencies required to perform a job and how to develop and implement training to achieve these
  • Evaluating a training programme

Objectives

This webinar was aimed at a broad range of stakeholders from the ASEAN region, including delegates who have attended previous editions in the series, individuals employed by organisations entrusted with responsibilities related to the safe and secure management of radioactive sources as well as the safe and secure management of research reactor facilities.
