Applications for this event are closed
Workshop on autonomous and remotely operated systems: Benefits and challenges to nuclear security

Background

The safe and secure management of nuclear and other radioactive material requires that individuals entrusted with this task possess the necessary qualifications and experience. The responsibility for cultivating this expertise lies with the licensee, who must demonstrate to regulatory authorities the existence of appropriate mechanisms for employee professional development. A competency framework is crucial, providing assurance that the licensee is executing effective measures to maintain the competence of all personnel under regulatory oversight. These frameworks, when well-developed, establish a direct link between individual performance and organisational objectives, facilitating the organised management of training and personal growth. Clearly defined competencies enable staff to discern their career progression, while management gains a structured framework for succession planning.

Purposes

The following was accomplished during the webinar:

1.       Explored the competency development process, with a focus on preparatory measures for adopting a framework within an organisation.

2.      Broke down essential elements within the competency framework and their role in supporting and conducting performance assessments.

3.      Gained insights from subject matter experts who have successfully applied this methodology in their organisations.

4.      Heard perspectives from experts in the ASEAN region actively implementing this approach.

5.      Engaged in interactive discussions and pose questions throughout the webinar.
