Appointment of Ms Rhonda Evans to WINS

We are delighted to announce that Ms Rhonda Evans will be joining WINS as the Head of the WINS Academy with effect from the 1st August 2017. Rhonda joins us from the IAEA where she is currently a Senior Nuclear Security Specialist in the Division of Nuclear Security. Previously, Rhonda was a senior regulator at the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) and provided stewardship for the development of a risk informed and performance based national regulatory system. Rhonda was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Australia and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1990 and is a specialist in nuclear law.

Dr Roger Howsley, Executive Director of WINS noted, “Rhonda brings a wealth of experience to WINS and her expertise in regulatory affairs, governance, risk management, professional development and operational security will make a significant contribution to the WINS Academy and the broader programme of work in which WINS is engaged. We also anticipate that Rhonda’s appointment will lead to an even closer working relationship with the IAEA to ensure complementary programmes that jointly benefit the nuclear security community and enhance WINS’ strategic goals to improve the security of nuclear and other radioactive materials worldwide. Rhonda joins us at an exciting time as we approach 1,000 participants in the WINS Academy, that provides certified professional development opportunities for all personnel with accountabilities for nuclear security.”

Rhonda Evans commented, “This role provides the opportunity for me to continue my engagement with the nuclear security community throughout the world and to make a contribution to help empower that community to strengthen nuclear security. The nature of the risk to be managed will continue to evolve and change.  This role will support security professionals meet the challenges of the present and the future.”

Dan Johnson, who is currently the Head of the WINS Academy will be relocating to the United States of America in October 2017 and will continue to play an essential role for WINS as a Senior Advisor responsible for Stakeholder Engagement in North America. Dan has been responsible for establishing the WINS Academy and for its international success to date.
