Description

I have worked in the nuclear security and related fields since 1996 when I joined the Ukrainian nuclear regulator. Previously, for many years I worked as an engineer at the Kyiv Institute for Nuclea Researches. My background is in radiophysics and electronics (I graduated from Shevchenko Kyiv State University). From 2004 to 2010 I worked for Institute on National Security Problems, and from 2010 thus far for National Institute for Strategic Studies. The scope of my professional interests has broadened and covers nuclear security, nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament (especially, with regard to Ukraine's role in this process), and national infrastructure protection (including, of course, nuclear industry). I have published a number of papers (in English) on illicit trafficking in nuclear and other radioactive materials, nuclear security summits, national infrastructure protection etc. In 2001, when working for the Ukrainian nuclear regulator I took the opportunity to participate in the IPPAS Mission to Czech Republic as a team member. In 2007 I was granted for fellowship at the Center of Nonproliferation Studies (Monterey, CA, U.S.).
