About Dragana

I joined the Public Company “Nuclear Facilities of Serbia” in 2011, immediately after graduating from the School of Electrical Engineering, starting my professional career as a Researcher within the Department for Development and Application of Nuclear Technologies, which includes the research reactors RA and RB and the closed uranium mine Kalna. This early engagement enabled me to gain valuable hands-on experience in nuclear facilities and develop a strong technical foundation. In 2016, I transitioned to the security field and was appointed Systems Control Engineer in the Department for Nuclear Security, where I became directly involved in the development, maintenance, and improvement of nuclear security systems. In 2017, I successfully completed the WINS Academy programme and obtained the title of Certified Nuclear Security Professional, further strengthening my expertise in nuclear security, international recommendations, and best practices. In 2021, I was promoted to Head of the Department for Physical Protection Systems (PPS) within the Department for Nuclear Security. In this role, I am responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive nuclear security system within the Public Company “Nuclear Facilities of Serbia,” ensuring the highest level of protection of nuclear facilities and materials against potential threats, in compliance with national legislation, international conventions, and IAEA recommendations. My responsibilities include the development and implementation of nuclear security plans, procedures, and supporting documentation; conducting threat and risk assessments; identifying vulnerabilities; and designing, upgrading, and maintaining advanced physical protection systems, including intrusion detection, access control, and video surveillance systems. I also coordinate emergency preparedness and incident response activities in cooperation with relevant national authorities and stakeholders to ensure an effective and timely response to any security-related event. In addition, I am actively involved in strengthening insider threat prevention and mitigation measures through the development of procedures, awareness activities, and the promotion of a strong nuclear security culture. I place significant emphasis on continuous professional education by regularly participating in international training courses, workshops, and conferences in the field of nuclear security, enabling the integration of the latest knowledge and good practices into institutional processes. I am also engaged in the security aspects of transport of nuclear and other radioactive material, including planning, coordination, and implementation of appropriate physical protection measures during transport operations in accordance with national regulations and international guidance.
