African Youth Nuclear Summit – Nuclear For a Sustainable Future, March 27 – 30, 2017 in KICC, Nairobi, Kenya

Kenyan Young Generation in Nuclear (KYGN) in collaboration with African Young Generation in Nuclear will be hosting the First African Youth Nuclear Congress from the 27 to 30 March 2017. The summit will bring together young and senior professionals from the academia; industry; research and development; healthcare; nuclear operators, regulators and providers among others to share, exchange ideas and network on issues related to nuclear science & technology.

Purpose:

  1. Strengthen networks among the professionals in nuclear science and technology opening up future opportunities for the youth;
  2. Provide a platform for leading scientists and researchers in nuclear science and technology to share their expert knowledge and to transfer it to the young generation;
  3.  Share opportunities and encourage youth participation in nuclear related research, innovation and skills development programs;
  4. Expand nuclear networks among the young people in Africa so as to enhance an active participation in International Youth Nuclear Congress and other related nuclear science and technology bodies;
  5. Provide a platform for participants to learn ways of promoting the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology for the welfare of mankind;
  6. Provide a platform in which the policy makers will appreciate the benefit of embracing nuclear science and technology in its development agenda; and 
  7. Develop spirit of volunteerism and establish mechanisms for youth engagement in community services.

 

Expected Output:

  1. Broader youth participation in nuclear science and technology related activities;
  2. Enhance networks for employment, business opportunities and skills development;
  3. Create market exposure across the entire spectrum of collaborative partnership in government, industry, entrepreneurs and academia;
  4. Broaden government and industry participation to enhance youth development through collaborative integration towards common objectives in the nuclear industry;
  5. Greater private sector, emerging industrialists, entrepreneurs as beneficiaries of and contributors to strategic government initiatives and infrastructure development in the nuclear sector;
  6. Internationalization of activities, collaboration, and impact in nuclear science and technology.
