WINS and Women in Nuclear Global are making common cause in promoting gender equality and the professional development of women in the field of nuclear security through a new memorandum of understanding.
Both organisations are deeply committed to advancing gender equality in the sector.
“Women in nuclear security continue to face significant underrepresentation in key areas such as cybersecurity, transport security, incident response and advanced technology,” WINS Executive Director Lars van Dassen said. “WINS is committed to supporting women in nuclear security through training and capacity building.”
“Today, we celebrate a significant milestone: formalising a collaboration that has, for years, been a partnership in practice. We renew our commitment to working side by side, advancing equality with the same professionalism, passion, and dedication that have long united us,” said WiN Global President Melina Belinco. “Together, we are building a safer, more diverse, and inclusive nuclear sector.”
The two organisations plan to cooperate in four primary areas:
• Promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment
• Professional development and mentoring
• Advancing inclusion of women in underrepresented areas of nuclear security
• Knowledge sharing and outreach
“Through this partnership we can better support nuclear security through targeted training, operational exposure and leadership development opportunities for women in the sector. Developing underutilised talent and including varied perspectives in the nuclear security sector will enhance problem solving, risk assessment, and crisis response,” added Viviana Moreno, WINS Senior Project Manager, who signed on behalf of the organisation.
Women in Nuclear Global and WINS look forward to exploring opportunities for joint initiatives and public engagement; training, mentorship, and capacity development; exchange of personnel and expertise; and collaborative research and knowledge products – and sharing these with our respective members.
