The World Institute for Nuclear Security opened its new offices in Vienna on the 5th January 2009. The offices are conveniently situated in the centre of Vienna with easy access by public transport to locations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the airport.
Roger Howsley, Executive Director for WINS noted, "Vienna is the ideal location for WINS, as it fulfils our requirements as an international organisation. Right from the start, the Vienna Business Agency (VBA) was extremely helpful to us, providing excellent advice to help with the legal and logistical arrangements of establishing WINS in Vienna, be it supporting the search for office space, establishing contacts with relevant public and private partners or assistance in recruiting competent staff. And after viewing a considerable range of available office space we were fortunate to have found quality serviced accommodation provided by bena, at a competitive price. We have now extended our recruitment programme, confident that our staff can work in excellent and appropriate surroundings."
Bernd Riessland, General Manager of the VBA, commented: "WINS' decision to locate in Vienna emphasises Vienna's important status as a centre for international security. Their activities are a very gratifying supplement to the work of UNO and IAEA and further highlights the business location of Vienna. We wish WINS every success for the future."
Also the Mayor of Vienna, Michael Häupl, bids WINS welcome: "We are very pleased to welcome the World Institute for Nuclear Security to Vienna. WINS has a serious and extremely important international mission and we are proud to offer it a solid and reliable business environment as a working base."
The WINS offices are located on the fourth floor at Graben 19. A location map can be found here.
